Collaborative Design For Residential Projects

Home design is a collaborative process between building designer and owner. I work with you to provide a home to suit the style and construction method that you as the owner require. This is why most of the homes I design are quite different to each other and are not designed to conform with a uniform style. Whatever home you would like to build my priority to is to bring that vision to life, while at the same time making recommendations to ensure the implentation of good design principles, structural efficiency and builder friendly construction detailing.

High Quality Construction Documentation

No home design is worth anything unless it is articulated in an accurate and detailed set of construction drawings. I place a great deal of importance in the quality of the construction documentation produce - something that builders appreciate. All projects will require some specialist consultants (such as engineering certification) and the coordination and checking of these services is also something that is important to the overall package of documents required for a building permit.

3D Modelling

I use industry leading 3D architectural design software to 'build' a detailed and structurally accurate digital model of the proposed building. This allows for comprehensive assessment, avoidance of structural clashes and increased accuracy of documentation. It is also an invaluable tool for seeing how the final project will look and perform in the real world.

3D Walkthough

Available as standard on most projects is a 3D 'walk-through' building model that can be viewed on your own home computer or mobile device. Being able to see the full extent of your building inside and out at an early stage in a digital environment is a fantastic aid in decision making.  I can even apply most selected colours and finishes to the external building materials for added realism and assistance in colour selections.

Diverse Construction Methods & Energy Efficiency

I have designed homes to suit a wide range of construction types so if you want to use a non-standard construction method, I can accommodate. I can also design to suit your environmental sustainability requirements. I have extensive experience in all the efficiency elements that go into creating homes ranging from minimum requirements all the way up to air-tight high-performance homes and can advise on everything from window choices to insulation levels and everything in-between.

Boutique Builder Service

I also provide a full design and drafting service for builders who do not emply an in-house drafting team. I can complete your custom individual designs as required or develop and maintain a plan library to suit your requirements, and work with you to produce the marketing images needed for promoting your work on social media.
